Reflections Sunnyvale -Cupertino-Fremont Council Results

Wow!  The results are in and CHS students took the Cupertino Fremont Sunnyvale Council PTA Reflections Art Contest by storm.

Dance - 1st Place - Raychel Hatch - Mrs. Potato Head

Film - 1st Place - Nico Chilla - Being Human

Literature - 1st Place - Ryan Sun - Until We Meet Again

Literature - 3rd Place - Hilary Oglesby - My Story

Photography - 1st Place - Bryan Choy - Lighting Up the Darkness

Visual Arts - 2nd Place -  Gargee Khaparde - Unwritten

Visual Arts - 3rd Place - Gina Pai - The Journey of Life is a Storybook

606 students from 21 schools submitted entries.  248 of those entries were advanced to the Council.  Of those, 66 entries were ranked in the top three including 23 that were ranked #1 and will be forwarded to the District level for the next round of competition.

December  Happenings

 

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break!   December will be a very busy month for the students with finals and many activities.

 

Congratulations our students who went on to the Council Level of  Reflections Arts Program! The results are in and CHS students took the Cupertino Fremont Sunnyvale Council PTA Reflections Art Contest by storm.  See the last page or the Reflections page

 

Special Association Meeting

 The special association meeting to approve the grants will be on Tuesday, December 13 at 7pm in the Cafeteria. 

 

Update on PTSA Memberships and Donations

Thank you to those who have joined PTSA this year and/or made a direct donation! If you haven't yet donated and would like to, it's not too late! Every dollar helps to support programs that benefit our students, teachers, and parents.

Staff Appreciation Events:

 

PTSA is hosting a Holiday Brunch for our wonderful teachers and staff on December 16, 2016 - 8:30 am at the High School cafeteria.  It will be one of the most attended events since they will be at school working while our kids are already on their holiday vacation. We have about 120 staff to feed so please be generous.

 

To help or donate food, please sign up here: 

 Brunch volunteer

A dish could serve up to 20 people. Please label your container so you can pick them up at the office (reception area) that afternoon. Help us spread the spirit of the season by sharing. Syrous Parsay will be speaking in depth about a topic that was briefly discussed in his Roadmap to College workshop. This lecture will provide guidance on the steps sophomores and juniors should consider to prepare for college application process this summer.

Maximizing your summer

Our principal, Kami Tomberlain, and others will be sharing the results of the fall Fremont High School District wide Student Wellness Survey. There are some very interesting results that we want to share with our parent community. We want your feedback so do not miss out on this great opportunity to be heard.

Career Fair Friday February 3  Students will hear about various careers from speakers in our community.  Parents are welcome to speak.  Please consider volunteering for this important event.   Please complete the form provided 2016-17 PTSA Volunteer Online Form

Hey Tino!

 

Tino United Nations has just been invited to a special presentation event hosted by the United Nations Association of America (UNA-USA). Guest speaker Keith Hiatt, head of Benetech's Human Rights program, will be speaking about creative IT solutions for current human rights issues. Join him as he speaks about how technologies being developed in the Silicon Valley are being applied today to help improve the lives of thousands of human rights victims around the globe.

 

Mr.Hiatt will be speaking from 7 - 9 PM on Thursday, December 8th, in Classroom 2 at St. Judes Episcopal Church. This event will be a great opportunity to learn more about international relations, scalable technologies, and human rights. Hope to see you there!
